No Child Left Behind
•Federal guidelines for parent involvement emphasize the principles of partnership. Expectations are that schools include parents in planning and implementation of activities that support student learning.

•To accomplish this development of partnership between parents and educators, all parties need access to the same information and all must be part of decision-making processes.

•One of the four key elements of the No Child Left Behind (NCLB) Act of 2001 emphasizes the provision of expanded options for parents in helping to guide the educational programs of their children.

•NCLB directs schools to involve families in activities that increase student achievement and improve success in schools.

Parents must be given annual information on:
•Student's achievement;
 •Teachers' qualificiations;
 •School quality indicators;
 •Transfer options from persistently
 low-performing schools;
 •Choices for supplementary services to
 support learning for qualifying students.
NBISD Parent
Advisory Committee
In October 2003, New Braunfels ISD formed the Parent Advisory Committee. Comprised of members representing all campuses in the District, the first charge of the group was to write a mission statement. Committee members update the Parent Involvement Policy annually for all parents with children attending New Braunfels ISD schools.

 The committee meets the third Thursday of the month at The Education Center beginning at 9 a.m.

Mission Statement: "New Braunfels ISD is committed to enhancing relationships and communication between all students, parents, and educators. Together we will promote the academic, social, and emotional growth of all children." – NBISD Parent Advisory Committee
