All NBISD fourth grade students were given the opportunity to tour the
Sophienburg Museum and Heritage Village thanks to funding provided by the NBISD
Education Foundation during the spring semester. Along with tours, special
hands-on activities were planned for students from Carl Schurz Elementary,
Seele Elementary and Memorial Intermediate.

In 2004 the Education Foundation established the Distinguished Unicorn Alumni
Award to present to New Braunfels High School graduates who have demonstrated
leadership, outstanding moral character, and empathy toward others in their
personal and professional lives, whether acting as mentors, role models,
business or professional leaders, or civic volunteers.

|
During its annual fundraiser on January 18 at the Historic Seekatz Opera House,
members of the NBISD Education Foundation announced the 2008 Distinguished
Alumni. Honored were Merritt and Iris Schumann, Maurice and Charlene Fischer,
David W. Hartmann, Jeff and Denise Mund and Tim Zipp. The event raises money
each year to support teaching grants in the district.

Members of the NBISD Education Foundation Board of Directors delivered $15,129
worth of grants in May to six educators in the district. New Braunfels High School teacher Lori Waters receives a $4,792 grant to
purchase a projection system so teachers can use their computer to access
on-line materials, or to use such peripherals as the MindQuiz series in
Spanish, or other DVDs to help enhance learning in the classroom.

memorial gifts, real estate, stocks, planned giving, or other gift in kind.
Your donation remains in the NBISD community and is used directly to benefit
