Little Sap and Monsieur Rodin
by Michelle Lord (a local author)
illustrated by Felicia Hoshino

There is a country called Cambodia, and in this country was a princess named Sisowath Soumphady. The princess trained girls to dance in the royal dance troupe. This is where Sap's story begins.
Little Sap is a village girl who joins the dancers in hope of raising her family's status. Sap works hard every day until she becomes a talented member of the troupe. Soon the girls hear about a trip to France. Who will Sap meet, and what gift will she receive? I'm not telling you--you'll have to read this to find out!
I highly recommend this picture book, with its poetic words and lovely pictures, based on real events. Check this book out as soon as you have a chance!
