Football Date Change

The New Braunfels vs. Madison varsity football game will now be played on September 11, rather than September 12.

The change is because Fox Sports Southwest will air a live broadcast of the game from Unicorn Stadium.

Game time is 7 p.m. For ticket information contact NBHS Field House at 627-6111.

The first day of school for NBISD students is Monday, August 25.

More than 7,300 students are expected to begin the 2008-09 school year in NBISD.

Approximately 930 employees are eager to welcome back students so the process can begin to encourage, challenge, and nurture the learning spirit of all children.

Public gets opportunity to tour new facilities

Members of the public were invited to tour new NBISD facilities coming on line this fall on Sunday, August 17.

Parents, students, and patrons toured Klein Road Elementary which opens as a kindergarten through fifth grade campus this fall on the east side New Braunfels.

Tours were also conducted at the New Braunfels High School field house which saw renovation and expansion efforts this past year.

Both projects were funded by a bond referendum passed by voters in May 2006. Tours will also be conducted at OakRun Middle School when that expansion and renovation project is completed in 2009.

School board member selected to Leadership TASB

New Braunfels ISD Board of Trustees Board Member Greg Schlather has been accepted as a member of the 2009 Leadership TASB Class.

According to the Texas Association of School Boards, Leadership TASB is a school board development program designed to take experienced board members to a new level of service and leadership by exposing them to a variety of issues, people, activities, and locations during a year-long program. The program is composed of multiple training sessions held among a cohort group of applicants selected for demonstrated leadership in their local district and communities and for their representation of the diversity of Texas school districts.

“I feel privileged to be chosen and to be able to participate in this training,” said Schlather, who was first elected to the NBISD Board of Trustees in 2006.

“There are more than 1,100 school districts in Texas, and every opportunity that a board member has to interact and see how others are tackling issues helps us become better board members and makes a positive impact on NBISD.”

The Member Services Committee of the TASB Board of Directors approved a group of 31 school board leaders representing 13 of the 20 education regions in Texas for the Class of 2009. The Leadership TASB program was developed and

NBISD parents can track lunch room spending

NBISD is now offering parents “Lunch Money Now” service to help them track cafeteria balances, add money to a student’s account and even view an eating history.

By linking to the NBISD website, parents can check balances, add money to their child’s account by using MasterCard or Visa. Parents can also sign up for e-mail alerts when their child’s account becomes low. Link to Lunch
