District profile
The New Braunfels ISD – which serves more than 7,000 students and employs more than 900 employees – represents a history of strong educational achievements. Committed to providing excellence in education for all students, New Braunfels ISD finds its roots as far back as 1845 when New Braunfels was formed. The school district is one of the first public schools in Texas to be partially supported by a self-imposed tax and the only one in Texas believed to survive in its original form.
NBISD encompasses 11 campuses: seven primary and elementary campuses, a sixth grade center, a middle school, a high school, and an alternative learning center. For more information about the district contact the public information office, 830-643-5720.

Your Child’s Health
Head Lice (Pediculosis) Policy
Students determined to have head lice and/or nits shall not be allowed to attend school until they are treated. Following treatment and removal of all lice and nits at home, students shall be examined by the school nurse or nursing staff and shall be readmitted. Lice and nits are considered a communicable disease according to the Texas Department of Health Communicable Disease information. This policy will be followed for the safety of all students. Students who have lice and/or nits will not be allowed to ride the bus until the nurse has checked the student and verified that treatment has been done (label verification). No live lice or any nits may remain in the hair. Parents must bring the student to the nurse’s office to be checked before being admitted to class and readmitted to the bus.

Medication Administration at School
The New Braunfels ISD requires that all students who need medications during school hours must follow the district’s medication policy. Check your child’s handbook for more information on requirements.

Food Ban
Even though thousands of children have been vaccinated against Hepatitis A, there are still isolated cases in Comal County. Therefore, there continues to be a ban on home-baked and home-prepared foods in the schools.
