Prospective Employees interested in obtaining a Texas Teaching Certificate have several options.
The State Board for Educator Certification (SBEC) lists all programs available to individuals with or without a college degree.
 
  • Individuals who already have a Bachelor's degree or higher can obtain a teaching certificate by enrolling in an Alternative Certification Program. The SBEC website lists all approved programs in Texas.
There are several ACP programs within the San Antonio/Austin area:
Region XIII Education Service Center in Austin
Region XX Education Service Center in San Antonio
 
  • Individuals who do not have a Bachelor's degree or higher can obtain a teaching certificate by pursuing a degree in education.
There are several universities in the area that offer education degrees:
Texas Lutheran University
Texas State University
