I graduated from Calallen
High School in Corpus Christi, Texas in 1983.
I attended in Southwest
Texas State University in San Marcos (now Texas State University),
completing a Bachelor's degree in Music Education with all-level certification
in 1990.
I am currently in my nineteenth year of teaching, the last
sixteen being in the NBISD.
I have taught all levels of instrumental music and am currently
Director of the OakRun Middle School Band, where I conduct the Symphonic Band
and teach brass beginners.
Fun Information:
My husband, Clay, is
a band director at the New Braunfels Middle School. I have 3 children; two
are at Texas State University, majoring in Music Education. One wants to be
a band director and is a member of the Bobcat Marching Band and TSU Wind Ensemble.
She also is in the Bluecoats, which is a competing marching
drum corps. The other plans to be an elementary music teacher. She also participates
in the TSU Wind Ensemble and performs in the Colorguard of the Bobcat Marching
Band. She is a colorguard instructor for the Canyon High School Cougar Band
in New Braunfels. The last child is at NBHS, participating in the NBHS Mighty
Unicorn Marching Band, Silver Band, playing Unicorn Girls' Varsity Basketball
as a 3 year letterman , and is in the Rotary Interact Club.
I was the 2003-2004
Secondary Teacher of the Year for the New Braunfels I.S.D.
I was the 2002-2003
and 2003-2004 OakRun Campus Teacher of The Year.
While in High School,
I was a member of the 1980 4A State Marching Band Champions--the Georgetown
High School Marching Band (the Big Blue Machine).
I participated in the
1982 4A Girls' State Basketball Tournament alongside my teammates from
Calallen High School.
My main instrument
is the Euphonium, and I was trying to learn to play the fiddle. It
was not so good, so I tried out the bass guitar. Maybe I will stick to the
Euphonium.
My favorite color is
Royal Blue.
My Favorite hobbies
are fishing, camping, and working outside in my yard!
